    About the role#

The Analysis team at Antares develops and applies physics-based models to guide the design, testing, and development of reactor systems. You will work across engineering disciplines to size components, understand thermal and fluid performance, evaluate structural response, and turn simulation and test data into engineering decisions. Interns are integrated as first-year junior engineers, starting with starter projects before taking ownership of a long-duration project that culminates in a technical presentation.

    What you'll do#

    • Build CFD models of reactor components to evaluate fluid flow, heat transfer, and performance.
    • Build FEA models of reactor components to evaluate thermal and structural behavior.
    • Develop Python tools to support the sizing and evaluation of new designs.
    • Process, review, and interpret test data, comparing results with analytical and numerical predictions.
    • Define model assumptions, boundary conditions, and inputs while assessing convergence, sensitivity, and model fidelity.
    • Document methods, results, limitations, and recommendations in technical deliverables.
    • Collaborate with mentors and cross-functional partners while identifying technical risks and opportunities for improvement.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in mechanical, aerospace, nuclear, chemical, or a relevant engineering discipline, entering your junior or senior year.
    • Prior internship experience or more than one year of significant project-team, laboratory, or research experience.
    • Preferred: GPA of 3.5 or above.
    • Preferred: Experience in a university club or organization.
    • Preferred: Strong interpersonal and technical communication skills.
    • Preferred: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Preferred: Ability to work cross-functionally and effectively in a dynamic environment.
    • Preferred: Experience with Python and engineering data analysis.
    • Preferred: Experience with CFD, FEA, CAD, MATLAB, or related modeling tools.
    • Preferred: Coursework or project experience in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, numerical methods, or solid mechanics.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Torrance, California, United States.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site, five days per week.
    • Employment: Full-time internship.
    • Compensation: Paid position with a relocation and housing stipend.
