About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will join the team responsible for turning engineering designs into repeatable, safe, and documented build processes. You will contribute directly to development and test builds for fission microreactors. This role is based at our headquarters in Torrance, California, and requires on-site work throughout the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Create, revise, and release manufacturing work instructions for development and test hardware.
- Support the planning and execution of test builds, including build readiness, materials, tools, and sequencing.
- Develop concepts of operations that define build objectives, roles, workflow, and safety considerations.
- Lead specific portions of test and development builds.
- Perform hands-on assembly, integration, inspection, and test support.
- Capture build data, deviations, and lessons learned to improve future instructions and processes.
- Partner with design, test, quality, and operations teams to resolve build issues and incorporate feedback.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and quality-focused work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
- Hands-on experience from coursework, student design teams, research, or personal technical projects.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly in written instructions and verbal updates.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a hands-on manufacturing and test environment.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and use assigned personal protective equipment.
