    About the role#

    Analytical Mechanics Associates is hiring a part-time intern to support the Flight Dynamics Research Facility at NASA Langley Research Center. You will work on the Entry Systems Modeling project to develop free flight and forced oscillation model designs for rapid prototype fabrication. This work supports testing to investigate the dynamic stability of blunt entry vehicles.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop CAD models in .igs.stp, and native formats.
    • Design models for oscillation configurations, including mounting interface locations.
    • Create geometry to accommodate thermal inset fasteners for secure mounting to the balance sting.
    • Build CAD solid models for wind tunnel testing using FDM 3D printing methods.
    • Design models with a movable center of gravity.

    What you'll need#

    • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
    • At least 2 years of experience developing CAD models or 2 semesters of relevant CAD coursework.
    • Proficiency with .igs.stp, and native CAD formats.
    • U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residence status.

    • This is an on-site position located at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.
    • This is a paid, part-time internship with a rolling term.
