About the role#
AMT Engineering is seeking a Transportation Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time position based in our Herndon, Virginia office. You will work under the supervision of project managers and team leaders, with support from mentors and teammates throughout your internship. This role has the potential to transition into a full-time junior engineer position after you graduate.
What you'll do#
- Assist with project tasks including research, cost estimates, procurement support, and regulatory reviews.
- Manage, enter, evaluate, and present project data.
- Help prepare plans, reports, and specifications for our clients.
- Complete field assignments when necessary.
- Handle other related duties as required.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Associates degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a detail-oriented approach.
- Experience with engineering software like AutoCAD, MathCAD, or Bentley Microstation is preferred but not required.
