About the role#
Ames Construction is hiring an Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Hyrum, Utah. You will gain hands-on experience working on heavy civil and industrial construction projects while receiving professional guidance in the field.
What you'll do#
- Support highway heavy and civil construction sites, including project management and estimating tasks.
- Assist with document control, submittals, and monthly billing.
- Help with field operations, safety, or environmental requirements.
- Collaborate directly with safety personnel and field operations teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior or senior in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Construction Management.
- Previous experience working on civil or other construction sites.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Outlook.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform under schedule constraints and maintain attention to detail.

- This role is located in Hyrum, Utah.
- You will work in a construction site environment that requires standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing.
- Be prepared for exposure to high noise levels and travel to various project locations or regional offices.
