About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience supporting heavy civil construction projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals to assist with project coordination, technical reviews, safety monitoring, and communication with stakeholders including owners, design partners, subcontractors, and field crews. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with project managers and support construction teams.
- Build and maintain relationships with coworkers, owners, design partners, and subcontractors.
- Review and draft technical submittals, including schedules, shop drawings, and work plans.
- Assist with project layout, material procurement, and logistics.
- Identify critical work items and procure long-lead items.
- Assist with contract administration, including budget and change procedures.
- Resolve field problems and conflicts with subcontractors, suppliers, and the workforce.
- Maintain as-built drawings and manuals.
- Conduct research and report on project status.
- Perform quality control inspections to ensure compliance with contract documents and project timelines.
- Verify proper material usage and enforce safety protocols and PPE requirements on site.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
- A desire to grow, develop a career, and mentor others.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work in a construction site environment, which includes standing, walking, crawling, bending, reaching, and climbing, as well as potential exposure to high noise levels.
- Ability to work in an office environment, including sitting at a desk and lifting 5-20 pounds occasionally.
