About the role#
This internship supports the reporters and editors at Marketplace. You will contribute to business news coverage and work with the longform and special projects team on the podcast How We Survive. This is a full-time, paid position lasting from January 4 to June 4, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Pitch and produce longform and special projects in the newsroom.
- Take part in group edits and feedback sessions.
- Assist the Managing Editor and Deputies with cross-newsroom communication.
- Help reporters and editors find and interview sources.
- Support the conceptualization and execution of reporter-led stories.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university, or graduation within the past 18 months.
- Availability to work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ability to write clearly and accurately under strict deadlines.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and a willingness to learn new software.
- A demonstrated interest in journalism, such as work for a school newspaper or radio station.
- An interest in audio journalism and an appetite for learning audio skills.
- Knowledge of audio and video editing software like Audition, Adobe, or Final Cut is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is fully remote and can be performed from anywhere in the United States.
- Compensation is $20 per hour.
- Interns are eligible to accrue sick time off, participate in the APMG retirement plan, and are eligible for health insurance as required under the ACA.
