About the role#
Amentum is hiring an Engineering Technician Intern for Summer 2027. This role involves building and wiring control cabinets and hardware for projects like wind tunnel equipment, rocket and jet engine test stands, and automotive test cells. You will work on-site in Tullahoma, Tennessee, within a multidiscipline project team.
What you'll do#
- Read and interpret complex electrical schematics and CAD drawings.
- Perform panel layout, including drilling and cutting.
- Install DIN rails, Panduit, and electrical components.
- Execute wiring tasks including crimping, terminating, and labeling.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery safely.
- Conduct continuity and functional tests using multimeters.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to interpret 2D and 3D electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
- Skills in routing, bundling, and terminating wires and cables.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of NEC, NEMA, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Vocational or technical training in electrical technology, electronics, or mechatronics is preferred.
- OSHA 10/30-hour training or IPC-A-610 certification is preferred.

- Compensation: $15.24 to $24.38 per hour.
- Schedule: 1st shift, with potential for paid overtime.
