    About the role#

    The First-Year Intern position offers first-year students hands-on journalism experience at The Queen’s Journal. You will rotate through different sections of the publication to build your reporting and writing skills. You may also contribute to multimedia projects based on your interests.

    What you'll do#

    • Write at least one story every week.
    • Contribute to every section of The Journal, excluding opinions.
    • Work with editors to develop story ideas.
    • Conduct research and interviews for assigned stories.
    • Collaborate with section editors throughout the term.
    • Meet all deadlines and maintain regular communication.
    • Follow the editorial, ethical, and style standards of The Journal.
    • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.

    What you'll need#

    • You must be a first-year student at Queen’s University.
    • Ability to manage your responsibilities and meet deadlines.
    • Ability to commit to a minimum of one story per week.

    • This position is located in Kingston, Ontario.
    • Work is on-site.
    • This is a paid, full-time internship.
