About the role#
As a Summer Intern in Operational Excellence, you will work within the Indianapolis Exits Manufacturing Plant. This role focuses on supporting the plant through Lean transformation and daily management initiatives. You will interact with plant operations and leadership to drive improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and inventory. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Implement tactical strategies to meet value stream goals.
- Drive culture change by coaching employees and leaders on Lean behaviors.
- Support operational design and process improvements using value stream mapping.
- Provide project updates to Value Stream Leadership regarding key metrics.
- Direct Gemba Walks and educate team members on continuous improvement methodologies.
- Build and maintain visual performance tools.
What you'll need#
- At least 4 years of experience working with Lean concepts or the Toyota Production System.
- Experience in Front Line Leadership within operations or materials.
- A bachelor’s degree in management, leadership, engineering, or supply chain is preferred.
- Experience in distribution, warehousing, or logistics is a plus.
- Familiarity with PowerBI, WMS, MES, and ERP systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- The ability to influence and motivate teams.
