About the role#
Albedo is seeking a Build Engineer Intern for the Fall 2026 term to support the development and assembly of Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) satellite hardware. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Broomfield, Colorado. You will work directly with engineering teams to refine production processes and ensure the quality of flight hardware and ground support equipment.
What you'll do#
- Perform hands-on mechanical and electromechanical assembly of ground support equipment, R&D prototypes, and flight hardware.
- Contribute to the design and development of production workspaces, tooling, and inventory systems.
- Create, update, and refine work instructions, build documentation, and configuration tracking to ensure repeatable, high-quality results.
- Support outsourced manufacturing efforts, including kit preparation, documentation handoff, and vendor collaboration.
- Collaborate with engineers to identify and implement design-for-manufacturability and design-for-assembly improvements.
- Maintain lab organization, tooling readiness, and safety compliance.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience building or assembling mechanical or electromechanical systems, such as through personal projects, robotics teams, or rocketry.
- Proficiency with common mechanical tools, shop equipment, and measurement tools including calipers, torque tools, and multimeters.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or CREO.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality, repeatable builds.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, technicians, and vendors.

- Term: Fall 2026.
- Employment Type: Full-time internship.
- Compensation: $25-$29 per hour.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be a U.S. Person as defined under 22 CFR 120.62. This role does not offer visa sponsorship.
