About the role#
The Weld Process Intern role is a developmental position focused on building expertise in welding applications, technical sales, and operational efficiency. You will work under the guidance of a Welding Process Specialist to support our safety culture and assist in driving growth for small and midsize customers. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 that requires travel within the assigned territory.
What you'll do#
- Gain technical knowledge of welding applications to match customer needs with products.
- Assist in promoting sales of welding processes to customers.
- Shadow specialists during site visits to identify potential solutions.
- Use proprietary sales tools such as Welding Surveys and Efficiency Analysis.
- Provide customers with technical literature regarding shielding gases and welding products.
- Maintain a safe work environment and promote safety standards to associates and customers.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university majoring in Welding Engineering or a similar discipline, with third or fourth year students preferred.
- Strong interest in welding processes and welding economics.
- Willingness to prepare for the Certified Welding Inspector and Certified Welding Supervisor exams.
- Strong mathematical, problem solving, and analytical skills to assist with sales analysis and cost comparisons.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers.
- Proficiency in Google suite applications including Gmail, Sheets, and Docs.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a positive approach.
- Ability to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Preference for students enrolled at Ferris State University with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
