About the role#
Aecon is seeking an Engineering Co-op Student for the Annacis Water Supply Tunnel Project in the Metro Vancouver region. This is an on-site position where you will gain hands-on experience on a critical municipal infrastructure project. You will work alongside engineers, superintendents, and project teams to support tunnel works, shaft construction, scheduling, and daily field operations.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and analysis.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to project staff and stakeholders.
- Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with day-to-day tasks.
- Perform quantity tracking, productivity analysis, and quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
- Review completed work for quality and accuracy.
- Monitor progress and assist with job cost reports and month-end reconciliation.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft, and subcontractors.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings and design estimates.
- Gather field information for project bills of materials.
- Maintain project files and correspondence.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
- Work independently and handle administrative duties as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related program.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, and building materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including day and night shifts.
- Experience in construction or knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam are considered assets.
