About the role#
Aecon is hiring Engineering Co-op students to join the Foundations division. This is an on-site position that offers exposure to heavy civil projects. You will support the day-to-day management of construction, including resource allocation, project scheduling, and cost control.
What you'll do#
- Conduct site audits and analysis.
- Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports to project staff and key stakeholders.
- Assist Field Engineers and Superintendents with daily tasks.
- Perform quantity tracking and productivity analysis to improve efficiency.
- Complete quantity take-offs from construction drawings.
- Monitor project progress and assist with job cost reports.
- Provide data for month-end reconciliation.
- Maintain files and correspondence for active and completed projects.
- Provide technical support to field staff, craft, and subcontractors.
- Assist in the preparation, review, and maintenance of engineering drawings and design estimates.
- Gather field information to prepare project bills of materials.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments.
- Perform administrative duties as required.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil Engineering or Construction Management program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- A valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including day and night shifts.
- Willingness to relocate or travel for the position.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Beginner knowledge of AutoCAD or Bluebeam is an asset.
- Beginner knowledge of construction equipment, techniques, drawings, and standards.
