About the role#
This position provides support to the radiology department at Atrium Health Cabarrus. You will work under the supervision of a radiology technologist to assist with patient care, diagnostic exams, and administrative tasks. This is a part-time role that requires availability during evenings and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic diagnostic x-rays under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
- Prepare patients for exams and ensure their safety.
- Answer patient questions regarding procedures.
- Assist physicians and technologists during diagnostic exams, including those involving contrast media.
- Retrieve patient orders and manage tasks within the RIS, EMR, and other software applications.
- Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media materials as directed.
- Provide clinical support, such as assisting patients with restrooms, bedpans, or urinals.
- Help with administrative duties, quality assurance, safety, and regulatory compliance.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
- Current BLS certification.
- Clinical experience through an educational program related to medical imaging.
- Preference is given to 2nd year or senior radiology students.
- Medical clerical skills are preferred.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting and moving patients and equipment.
