About the role#
This internship provides exposure to vehicle complete seat systems within an engineering and program team. You will learn the product development process while working alongside technical professionals. The role focuses on planning, organizing, and delivering engineering program requirements.
What you'll do#
- Solve design issues using the Basic Engineering Process and lean engineering principles.
- Complete A3 reports and present them in weekly and executive design reviews.
- Prepare documentation and gather data for engineering xSO signoff.
- Interact with Subject Matter Technical Experts throughout your assignment.
- Support DV and PV testing by coordinating test timing, seat builds, and teardowns.
- Assist with customer and DV/PV test builds in Plymouth.
- Apply Design For Assembly and Manufacturing principles to your work.
- Use CAD to evaluate engineering design changes and assess their cost impact.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited university working toward a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Solid analytical skills and the ability to work with customers, suppliers, and development teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and follow-up abilities.
- Previous automotive internship or co-op experience is preferred.
- CAD experience in CATIA or Unigraphics is preferred.
