About the role#
This internship supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through our Community Residence and Day Habilitation programs. You will work alongside our nursing team to provide care and support in both residential and community settings. This is an unpaid, full-time, on-site role based in Middletown, New York. We accept applications on a rolling basis.
What you'll do#
- Observe and assist with medication counts and pours.
- Schedule client appointments.
- Help chart client medical information.
- Provide medication and wellness education to patients.
- Participate in daily nursing huddles and weekly supervision sessions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an associate level nursing student.
- Ability to earn academic credit for this internship.
- Strong communication skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and competency.
- Ability to move throughout the day, follow individuals, and work in close proximity to others.
- Capability to lift over 15 pounds occasionally.
- Prior nursing experience is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Middletown, New York.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm.
- Status: Unpaid internship.
