About the role#
This social worker internship involves planning, directing, and coordinating therapeutic support for patients dealing with behavioral problems, psychiatric disorders, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse, and emotional abuse. You will work on-site to promote patient recovery and social functioning while ensuring safety is the top priority.
What you'll do#
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop effective treatment plans.
- Interview patients and families to identify needs, skills, and limitations.
- Provide crisis intervention and support families through complex life situations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings to discuss assessments and discharge planning.
- Manage a caseload and maintain accurate, timely chart documentation that meets accreditation standards.
- Facilitate education, process groups, support groups, and referrals.
- Conduct intakes and coordinate placements within facility programs.
- Resolve patient complaints and maintain a professional, empathetic attitude.
What you'll need#
- A Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of social work field education or a similar practicum.
- State licensure as required by Delaware.
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification (training is available upon hire).
- First aid certification may be required.
- Two or more years of experience working with this patient population is preferred.
