About the role#
The Federal Work Study Assistant Set Decorator role supports the School of Motion Picture and Television. You will work alongside faculty, staff, and industry professionals to manage shop, studio, and prop room operations. This position reports directly to the Shop Manager.
What you'll do#
- Provide daily updates to the Shop Manager regarding shop and studio tasks.
- Assist in tracking shop and set-related projects.
- Help the set designer arrange studio spaces for shoots.
- Perform physical tasks including painting, moving furniture, and using drills or other shop equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the shop, set design rooms, and prop storage areas.
- Identify and report potential hazards in the studio to the Shop and Department Managers.
What you'll need#
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and move furniture.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Previous experience in set decorating is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Pay: $19.61 per hour.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, ranging from 5 to 20 hours per week.
- Term: Rolling, from the start of your term through graduation.
- Employment type: Part-time, on-site, paid.
