About the role#
As an R&D Electrical Engineering Co-op, you will gain practical experience by supporting ABB operations and contributing to research and development projects. You will work under the guidance of our R&D/Technology Manager to solve technical problems and support product development cycles. This role is a full-time position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with various teams to coordinate projects and meet deadlines.
- Analyze opportunities for short-term product enhancements and longer-term technology developments.
- Apply technical proficiency to perform engineering assignments and identify solutions to complex problems.
- Participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions to share information.
- Seek feedback from managers and peers to refine your skills.
- Stay current with state-of-the-art technology and ABB product offerings.
- Identify suitable solutions for clients by evaluating customer needs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master’s degree program in Electrical Engineering in the United States.
- Proficiency in embedded C or C++ and Python.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining high quality standards.
- Strong critical thinking skills to analyze situations and develop strategic solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with team members to convey ideas and project updates.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Bloomfield, Connecticut.
- The work model is on-site or hybrid.
- Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the office and manage their own commuting arrangements.
- Reliable transportation to and from the worksite is required.
- This is a paid position with an expected hourly rate between $20 and $34, depending on qualifications and experience.
