About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience in firmware development for microcontroller-based systems. You will work alongside senior engineers on projects involving embedded systems, firmware debugging, hardware bring-up, and system validation.
What you'll do#
- Assist in firmware development for microcontrollers using C and C++.
- Support board bring-up and hardware-firmware integration testing.
- Debug and resolve firmware issues under supervision.
- Write and maintain test cases, scripts, and documentation for embedded systems.
- Perform lab work using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
- Collaborate with hardware and software teams to implement new features and verify designs.
- Contribute to code reviews and knowledge sharing.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Experience with RTOS concepts.
- Knowledge of wireless protocols such as LoRa, BLE, or Wi-Fi.
- Coursework or projects in embedded systems, IoT, or PCB design.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site at our headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
