About the role#
As a Flight Test Engineer Intern, you will help validate complex autonomous systems. You will analyze flight data to identify anomalies, track performance, and determine the root causes of test results. You will also contribute to the design of flight test campaigns by defining test methods and data post-processing requirements. This role offers hands-on experience with autonomy software and systems engineering in a real-world environment.
What you'll do#
- Analyze flight test data logs using custom scripts to identify anomalies, assess reliability, track performance trends, and perform regression analyses.
- Design, oversee the execution, and review the results of software validation and flight test campaigns.
- Monitor the develop branch daily to surface instability and potential issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure system-level requirements are clear and measurable.
- Develop test infrastructure and application-based tools to support flight testing.
- Maintain documentation, dashboards, and SQL search queries.
- Own or supervise aspects of flight operations, including preflight, launch, maneuvers, and incident reporting.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least the second year of undergraduate studies in physics, mathematics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field. Masters and PhD students are also eligible.
- A strong background in mathematics and physics.
- Experience in autonomous vehicle or robotic system integration and testing.
- Experience with data processing and visualization.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- This is a full-time, on-site internship located in South San Francisco, California.
- The term for this position is Summer 2027.
