About the role#
The Ground Systems Deployment and Construction team turns bare ground into functional drone charging sites. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will support the design and deployment of these systems. You will work on commercial and light-industrial electrical distribution projects, gaining hands-on experience with an autonomous drone delivery network. This role involves utility coordination, site-level electrical design, and technical documentation. You will collaborate with mechanical, structural, and deployment teams to solve real-world problems and improve engineering processes.
What you'll do#
- Design electrical distribution for commercial and light industrial ground system projects in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
- Develop next-generation charging structure wiring and installation approaches.
- Assist with UL and TUV certification efforts by gathering documentation and coordinating with partners.
- Support engineers with research, drafting, and documentation for electrical distribution and structure-level wiring.
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, and deployment teams to contribute to project problem-solving.
- Create documentation to ensure quality and process refinement between builds.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your second year of undergraduate studies, or current enrollment in a Master's or PhD program.
- Relevant coursework in circuits, power systems, or construction.
- Familiarity with engineering tools such as CAD, ECAD, electrical modeling, or simulation software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site position based in South San Francisco, California.
- The internship term runs from January 2027 through April 2027.
- This position is paid at a rate of $44 per hour.
- Occasional travel within California and the U.S. for site visits or field support may be required.
