About the role#
York Space Systems is looking for a Ground Software Engineering Intern to join our team. You will build and maintain a web-based application used by operators to monitor and control spacecraft constellations. You will work alongside experienced engineers who provide mentorship and code reviews. This role offers the chance to contribute to features used on active missions. You will work in a team of 6 to 8 developers.
What you'll do#
- Develop user-facing features using TypeScript and React.
- Translate designs and requirements into clean, readable code.
- Build and maintain reusable UI components following design patterns.
- Contribute to backend APIs when project work requires it.
- Write unit tests and documentation for internal users and customers.
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree or currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 0 to 1 year of software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with modern React or Angular core principles like components, state management, and rendering.
- Experience with Git or other source control tools.
- Familiarity with consuming REST APIs and working with SQL databases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to proactively seek information and guidance when requirements are unclear.
- Experience with strongly typed languages like C# or TypeScript is preferred.
- Experience with state management tools such as TanStack Query and front-end tooling like Yarn, Babel, or Material-UI is a plus.

- Location: Greenwood Village, Colorado.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (4 days in office).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: 22 to 26 USD per hour.
- Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, and 401K.
- Term: Rolling.
