About the role#
This internship provides on-the-job training for students currently enrolled in college or technical programs. It is a temporary position that runs alongside your schooling or during the summer break before graduation. You will gain experience across different departments to better understand the various facets of Wyoming Rents.
What you'll do#
- Assist with shop operations and complete miscellaneous tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Work day, night, or weekend shifts as directed.
- Prioritize safety and efficiency in all tasks.
- Answer telephone calls, maintain records, and complete service reports.
- Participate in and occasionally lead safety meetings.
- Provide daily progress updates to your supervisor and dispatchers.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or technical school studying diesel mechanics, machining, welding, or hydraulics.
- Good standing with your educational institution.
- A mechanical background and the ability to think through difficult projects.
- Proficiency in reading parts books, service manuals, and electrical or hydraulic schematics.
- Ability to read and use basic measuring tools and perform arithmetic.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to send and receive email.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to safely rig or hook components for lifting.
- Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for up to 12 hours, heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in various weather conditions or shop environments.
