About the role#
WSP is hiring a Transportation Engineering Intern for our Tucson office. This role supports projects for the City of Tucson and the Arizona Department of Transportation, including roadway improvements, ADA upgrades, and highway rehabilitation. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical and professional skills. This position is part-time during the school year and transitions to full-time during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks and learn principles of roadway, traffic, and utility engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation and complete assigned training.
- Follow company policies and adhere to the WSP Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- Interest in roadway geometry, roadway safety, traffic layout, and traffic studies.
- Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to follow direction from mentors and managers.
- A commitment to workplace safety and professional conduct.
- Experience with MicroStation OpenRoads or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
