About the role#
WSP is seeking a Mechanical Engineering (Transmission) Intern to join our Power and Energy team in Portland, Oregon. This is a full-time, 12-week summer internship starting May 17, 2027. You will work alongside senior staff on real projects to build your technical, social, and ethical engineering skills.
What you'll do#
- Support a variety of engineering tasks while learning basic mechanical engineering principles.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow WSP’s Code of Conduct and maintain ethical standards regarding company resources.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate program for Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Interest in civil engineering and a desire to develop skills relevant to our projects.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to follow direction from managers and mentors.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company health and harassment policies.
- Preferred: Enrollment in a master’s or PhD program and prior internship or campus leadership experience.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Portland, Oregon.
- The internship is a full-time, paid position.
- No relocation or housing assistance is provided.
