About the role#
WSP is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Richmond, Virginia office, this role provides hands-on experience by working alongside senior staff on real projects. This is a paid, 12-week program scheduled to begin on May 17, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete training modules assigned to your role.
- Follow company policies regarding resources, conduct, and safety.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an accredited Undergraduate or Graduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- An anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internship.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to take direction from mentors and managers to execute projects.
- Interest in Mechanical Engineering and a desire to advance your skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD or Revit is preferred.

- Location: Richmond, Virginia.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $23.03 - $29.96 per hour.
