About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Arlington, Virginia. You will join the Property & Buildings team for a 12-week program starting in May 2027. This role offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will also have access to the Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to build your technical and professional skills.
- Learn the basic principles of mechanical engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Collect and maintain project documentation.
- Complete assigned training modules.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, and manage resources ethically.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate mechanical engineering or related program with a graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Interest in mechanical engineering and a desire to grow your skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take direction from managers and mentors.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and spreadsheets.
- A commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is a plus.
