About the role#
WSP is hiring a full-time Geotechnical Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. Based in our Lakewood, Colorado office, this 12-week position offers hands-on experience working alongside senior staff on real projects. You will gain exposure to the industry while participating in our Developing Professionals Network for mentorship and networking.
What you'll do#
- Support engineering tasks to develop your technical, social, and ethical skills.
- Learn the basic principles of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering.
- Assist the US Mine Waste team with research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
- Help prepare final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
- Maintain project documentation and complete required training.
- Follow company policies, including the Code of Conduct, while managing company resources responsibly.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Civil or Geotechnical Engineering degree program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2027 or later.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
- Interest in heavy earthwork, construction, or mining.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with standard office software, spreadsheets, and technology.
- Ability to travel for up to 80% of the internship duration.
- Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Prior internship or campus leadership experience is preferred.

- Location: Lakewood, Colorado.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027, starting May 17, 2027.
- Compensation: $23.90 to $31.11 per hour. Please note that no relocation or housing assistance is provided for this role.
