About the role#
Woolpert is hiring a full-time Survey Intern for the Summer 2027 program. You will join our Survey and Geospatial team to gain hands-on experience in both field and office operations. This role supports a variety of infrastructure, transportation, aviation, and utility projects. You will work alongside licensed surveyors and geospatial professionals to collect and process data that informs engineering design and community development.
What you'll do#
- Work as a member of a survey field crew and project team.
- Assist with field data collection, including topographic, boundary, utility, construction, and control surveys.
- Operate surveying technologies such as GNSS/GPS receivers, robotic total stations, digital levels, and terrestrial laser scanners.
- Support UAV-related operations, including establishing photo control points and ground control for aerial mapping.
- Collect, organize, and process data using industry-standard software.
- Help develop maps, plats, reports, and other survey deliverables.
- Follow safety procedures and collaborate with your team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field.
- Familiarity with surveying principles, field procedures, and coordinate systems.
- Exposure to GNSS/GPS equipment, total stations, laser scanning, or UAV technologies.
- Experience with software such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or ArcGIS.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions.
- Ability to travel as needed during the internship.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
