About the role#
The Legal Fellow program provides an immersive in-house experience for law students or recent graduates. You will work on legal issues ranging from copyright and international freedom of expression to corporate compliance. You will receive individualized projects based on your interests and strengths, which you will lead under the guidance of a supervising attorney from the Legal Department.
What you'll do#
- Research various legal questions.
- Draft licensing agreements.
- Develop internal and external policies.
- Attend and participate in internal and external meetings.
- Collaborate on projects under the supervision of an attorney.
What you'll need#
- You are a current law student or recent law school graduate.
- You have a strong commitment to the Wikimedia Foundation's free knowledge mission.
- You possess a strong research background and excellent writing skills.
- You have completed coursework in areas such as internet law, freedom of expression, intellectual property, contract drafting, international law, privacy, or data security.
- You are able to adapt complex legal concepts for audiences with varying backgrounds.

- This is a remote, full-time, paid position.
- The term for this fellowship is Winter 2027.
