    About the role#

Elayne is building an AI platform to simplify estate settlement for families. As a Legal Product Fellow, you will work directly with our founding team to translate complex legal and administrative systems into software. This is not a traditional internship focused on contract review or memo drafting. You will be helping to build the product itself.

    What you'll do#

    • Research court rules, statutes, forms, and agency requirements to map them into product logic.
    • Determine the minimum information required from a family versus what can be obtained through AI agents, document parsing, APIs, and public records.
    • Evaluate what data can be inferred or cross-checked automatically and what requires manual verification.
    • Identify edge cases where the product should prompt for more information, seek an alternative source, or involve a human.
    • Collaborate directly with product and engineering teams as your research is integrated into the software.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment as a 2L or 3L law student, though exceptional 1Ls are encouraged to apply.
    • A genuine interest in researching difficult questions.
    • High precision and attention to detail.
    • An aptitude for turning messy information into clear, functional systems.
    • Interest in AI, startups, legal tech, fintech, or product development.
    • Ability to distinguish between what the law clearly establishes and what requires verification.

    Location & details#

    • Location: New York, New York. This role is on-site in NoMad, Manhattan.
    • Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, with flexibility around your class schedule.
    • Compensation: $30 to $40 per hour.
    • Status: Paid internship.
