About the role#
We are looking for an SRE & Application Services Intern to join our team. You will support our efforts to build foundational reliability practices that keep our services available and performant. This role offers hands-on experience in the SRE transformation at WEX, where you will work alongside experienced engineers to develop automation tools and improve system observability. You will gain exposure to incident management and learn to build resilient, scalable systems in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Monitor system reliability and performance alongside senior engineers.
- Shadow team members during incident response, triage, and root cause analysis.
- Write basic automation scripts to reduce routine operational tasks.
- Learn and apply best practices in system design, maintenance, and change management.
- Follow established processes for testing and service deployment.
- Participate in team learning activities and knowledge-sharing sessions.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of Linux/Unix administration, networking, and system troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Basic experience in CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Awareness of cloud computing concepts such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Good understanding of version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with developing AI based solutions.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
