About the role#
This is a 10-week paid internship for Summer 2027. You will work within the underwriting team to gain experience in the insurance industry. The program includes classroom training, a formal mentor program, and a group project. You will attend lunch and learn sessions with senior leaders and participate in team building activities.
What you'll do#
- Support underwriting teams with research, data analysis, and risk assessment.
- Assist underwriters in evaluating complex or non-standard insurance applications.
- Research industry-specific risks, emerging trends, and exposures.
- Prepare underwriting files and organize supporting documentation like financial statements and loss runs.
- Conduct competitor analysis and benchmark coverage options or pricing.
- Compile data to help develop underwriting strategies and guidelines.
- Attend underwriting meetings and shadow underwriters during client calls or risk reviews.
- Participate in training sessions on specialty insurance products, systems, and risk modeling.
- Monitor niche markets, policy forms, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a 4-year college or university pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree.
- A minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Previous leadership experience through work, athletics, clubs, or community service.
- Technical and digital proficiency.
- Ability to work onsite in the office 4 days a week.
