About the role#
The Westfield Specialty Intern Program is a paid, ten-week summer internship running from June 7th to August 13th, 2027. This role offers students insight into the insurance business through hands-on work, mentorship, and professional development. Interns participate in classroom training, a lunch and learn series with senior leaders, and a group project alongside other interns.
What you'll do#
- Assist with actuarial analyses for pricing initiatives.
- Gather, validate, and analyze large data sets using statistical techniques.
- Build and maintain actuarial models, reports, and dashboards.
- Prepare summaries, presentations, and recommendations based on your findings.
- Evaluate trends related to claims, premium, exposure, and profitability.
- Participate in data quality reviews and process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with underwriting, finance, and claims teams to support decision-making.
- Conduct research on industry trends, market conditions, and emerging risks.
- Complete ad hoc analyses and special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
- Must be sitting for an Actuarial Exam, with one or more exams already completed preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with SQL, R, Python, or Power BI is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently or in a team.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

- Modality: Hybrid, with the requirement to be in the office 4 days a week.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7th to August 13th).

- Compensation: Paid at $25 per hour.
