About the role#
This is a 10-week paid internship running from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027. You will work within the underwriting team to gain firsthand insight into the insurance business. The program includes classroom and on-the-job training, a formal mentor program, and a group project. You will also attend weekly lunch sessions with senior leaders and participate in team-building activities.
What you'll do#
- Support underwriting teams with research, data analysis, and risk assessment.
- Assist in evaluating complex or non-standard insurance applications.
- Research industry-specific risks, emerging trends, and exposures unique to specialty lines.
- Prepare underwriting files, including risk factor summaries, coverage recommendations, and pricing justifications.
- Organize documentation such as loss runs, financial statements, and supplemental forms.
- Conduct competitor analysis and benchmark coverage or pricing.
- Compile data to support the development of underwriting strategies.
- Attend underwriting meetings and shadow team members on client calls or risk reviews.
- Participate in training sessions on specialty products, underwriting systems, and risk modeling tools.
- Stay updated on niche markets, policy forms, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 4-year college or university pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
- Minimum GPA of 3.2.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Technical proficiency and digital savvy.
- Preferred: Leadership experience through work, community service, athletics, or clubs.
- Academic background in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics.
