About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship based in Lewiston, Idaho. You will work under the direct supervision of a Technician IV to help maintain and repair Caterpillar equipment. This role is on-site and follows a rolling term schedule.
What you'll do#
- Assist in repairing machines to meet customer and supervisor standards.
- Perform machine inspections and minor troubleshooting tasks independently.
- Remove, install, disassemble, and assemble components like engines, hydraulics, and transmissions.
- Change oil and fluids in equipment according to specific requirements.
- Inspect returned machines for damage, fuel levels, and attachments.
- Wash, detail, and steam clean equipment as needed.
- Maintain shop cleanliness and adhere to all safety policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the final semester of an Associate Degree program at an accredited vocational school.
- Understanding of hydraulic, engine, and power train systems.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, including reading and writing.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor, such as lifting up to 60 lbs and generating 97 ft./lbs. of force.
- Capability to stand, walk, climb, and bend for extended periods.
- Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Office is preferred.
- Reliability regarding attendance and the flexibility to work overtime when needed.
