About the role#
The Welding Intern supports fabrication and welding operations while gaining hands-on experience. You will work alongside experienced welders to cut, bend, and assemble metal components. This role focuses on building your technical skills and understanding of production safety practices.
What you'll do#
- Assist welders and fabricators with fitting, aligning, and welding components.
- Perform basic welds and tack welds under guidance.
- Support the movement of materials using hoists, cranes, or manual handling.
- Help read and interpret blueprints and layout specifications.
- Use measuring tools to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy.
- Assist with grinding, cutting, beveling, and surface preparation.
- Support the setup and operation of fabrication equipment.
- Help mark and prepare materials for cutting and bending.
- Assist with lifting, positioning, and aligning parts for assembly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a welding or fabrication program.
- Basic understanding of welding and fabrication processes.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints with guidance.
- Familiarity with measuring tools like tape measures and calipers.
- Strong willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Ability to work safely in a physical, hands-on environment.

- Physical requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for up to 12 hours, and perform tasks involving bending, climbing, and kneeling. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and wear required personal protective equipment.
