About the role#
The Planner Evaluation team focuses on measuring and improving the software that drives the vehicle. As an intern, you will build the data platforms and infrastructure needed to support machine learning launch evaluations for the Waymo Driver. You will work with industry leaders on projects that impact the company while expanding your technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Develop data pipelines to generate high-quality machine learning and evaluation datasets.
- Design and implement tools for data mining, exploration, and analysis to extract insights from large-scale datasets.
- Architect, build, and maintain large-scale data platforms to process Waymo driving logs and simulation data.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Data Science and Quantitative Analytics teams to build data infrastructure solutions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree (Master's or PhD) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience with systems that ingest, store, transform, and output data at scale.
- Proficiency in C++ or Python within a production environment.
- Strong technical communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience with A/B experiment infrastructure is preferred.
- Exposure to ad-hoc data analysis using SQL is preferred.
- Prior experience in the autonomous vehicle industry is preferred.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based in Mountain View, California, and operates on a hybrid, on-site basis.
- Compensation is $70 per hour for Master's students and $85 per hour for PhD students.
