About the role#
WaterOne is hiring interns for our summer Grounds Maintenance program. You will assist in maintaining the appearance of our properties across our 272 square mile service area. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Perform lawn care including seeding, sodding, mowing, power raking, and trimming hedges, shrubs, and trees.
- Apply fertilizers, insect sprays, and weed control.
- Inspect grounds before mowing to clear debris and prevent property damage.
- Maintain lawn equipment, including sharpening mower blades and inspecting tractors.
- Clear dead trees, limbs, and trash from the grounds.
- Complete facility maintenance such as repairing fences and windows.
- Paint or stain walls, floors, doors, pipes, and equipment.
- Handle duties related to hazardous waste operations.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a college, university, or vocational program for the fall semester.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to meet WaterOne driving standards.
- Ability to work safely with tractors, mowers, and other equipment.
- Knowledge of proper confined space entry and safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Capacity to learn and apply requirements for hazardous waste operations.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to pass a post-offer medical exam, drug screen, and background verification.
- Ability to meet qualifications for using air purifying and air supplied respiratory protection.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.
