About the role#
As a Tech Intern 1 at Warren CAT, you will work alongside a qualified mentor to gain the knowledge and expertise needed to become a Caterpillar Technician. This program is designed to help you build practical skills in machinery maintenance and repair.
What you'll do#
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Caterpillar Engines and Machinery.
- Use hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools, laptops, diagnostic software, cranes, and rigging equipment.
- Work with engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
- Follow service manuals and technical guidelines to ensure repairs meet Caterpillar standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacements.
- Remove, install, disassemble, and assemble components, and test and adjust assemblies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering program.
- A GPA of 2.5 or higher maintained throughout the internship.
- Ability to arrange housing near the school campus and the local Warren CAT location if required.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Successful completion of the Work Steps assessment.
Location & details#
- Location: Abilene, Texas.
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship with a rolling term.
- This position is safety sensitive and requires up to 5% travel.
- You must be able to stand, walk, and reach for extended periods. You may occasionally need to lift or move up to 75 pounds.
