About the role#
The Diesel Technician Intern works with the Service Manager and experienced technicians to maintain diesel equipment. You will assist with inspections and preventive maintenance to keep vehicles in working order. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Dickinson, North Dakota. The pay range for this position is $28 to $31 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Inspect vehicles and run diagnostic tests to find worn or damaged parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance, install upgrades, control corrosion, and complete winterization.
- Handle basic repairs based on your skill level with oversight from mentors.
- Assist mentors with major repairs.
- Test engine, safety, and combustion systems to meet federal and state requirements.
- Document all services and repairs to maintain accurate vehicle records.
- Keep shop equipment running by following instructions, troubleshooting, and managing supplies.
- Stay current on technical knowledge through educational opportunities and reading industry publications.
- Maintain regular attendance and follow company ethical standards.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- A valid driver license with a clean driving record.
- Experience with tooling, supply management, and mechanical inspection tools.
- Strong attention to detail and a dependable work ethic.
- Good verbal communication and documentation skills.
