About the role#
The Diesel Technician Intern works with the Service Manager and experienced technicians to maintain diesel equipment. You will assist with inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs. This role provides hands-on experience in identifying vehicle deficiencies, making adjustments, and keeping accurate service records.
What you'll do#
- Inspect vehicles and run diagnostic tests to find worn or damaged parts.
- Complete preventive maintenance schedules, including winterization and corrosion control.
- Perform basic repairs under the guidance of a mentor.
- Assist mentors with major vehicle repairs.
- Test engine and safety systems to ensure they meet federal and state requirements.
- Maintain detailed service records for all repairs.
- Keep shop equipment running by following instructions and performing maintenance.
- Stay current on technical knowledge by reading industry publications.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record.
- Understanding of mechanical inspection tools and supply management.
- Ability to document work clearly and communicate well with the team.
- Dependability and strong attention to detail.

- Location: Bismarck, North Dakota.
- Employment: Full-time, on-site.
- Pay: $28 to $31 per hour.
