About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern Grad at Walgreens, you will work on-site in La Quinta, California. This is a full-time, paid position where you will gain hands-on experience in retail pharmacy, clinical services, and team management. You will support the pharmacy manager in daily operations while providing essential healthcare services to our customers.
What you'll do#
- Consult with patients about medication usage, potential drug interactions, and preventive healthcare options.
- Handle the compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with workflow, inventory management, and identifying ways to improve pharmacy financials.
- Greet customers, answer their questions, and help resolve issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Perform clinical services, including administering immunizations and flu shots.
- Help manage the pharmacy by assisting with staff training, opening and closing procedures, and shift changes.
- Process insurance claims and work with local medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Participate in community outreach and build relationships with local healthcare professionals.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy information technology and company systems.
What you'll need#
- A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution, or the willingness to obtain one before your start date.
- The willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- To be a certified immunizer, or the willingness to become one within 90 days of hire.
