About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to learn the daily operations of the pharmacy while assisting with patient care. This role focuses on building your professional skills and knowledge of pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team in providing patient care and services within your state scope of practice.
- Use pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and manage patient information.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Handle inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Register sales at the cash register and handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist.
- Maintain the pharmacy department to ensure it is clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow all company quality improvement and safety policies.
- Complete required training and stay current on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A flexible schedule that includes availability for evening and weekend hours.
