About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on learning pharmacy operations, supporting patient care, and delivering customer service in accordance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Support patient care services within your state scope of practice, such as medication therapy management or health screenings.
- Handle pharmacy inventory tasks like ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Manage cash register transactions and maintain the cleanliness and order of the pharmacy department.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow quality improvement protocols.
- Handle non-clinical telephone calls and assist with administrative pharmacy tasks.
- Complete ongoing training to stay current with healthcare developments and company policy.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
