About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the daily operations of our pharmacy in Alpena, Michigan. This is a full-time, paid position that offers exposure to both clinical and retail pharmacy settings. You will work alongside the pharmacy team to ensure patients receive accurate care and guidance regarding their medications.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage and potential side effects.
- Ensure the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with tasks such as staff hiring, training, and performance management.
- Engage with customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including administering immunizations and flu shots.
- Maintain pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus and StoreNET to support efficient operations.
- Process insurance claims accurately and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Help optimize pharmacy financials and inventory management.
What you'll need#
- A willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Must be a certified immunizer or willing to become one within 90 days of hire.
