About the role#
This is a full-time Pharmacy Intern position based in Springfield, Massachusetts. You will work on-site to support pharmacy operations, provide clinical services, and assist the pharmacy manager with team development and financial oversight. This role involves a rolling term and is a paid position.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive health.
- Handle compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications while following regulatory guidelines.
- Engage with customers to answer questions, resolve issues, and provide assistance.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations and flu shots.
- Manage pharmacy workflow, including opening and closing duties and shift transitions.
- Process insurance claims and resolve payment rejections.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
- Build relationships with the local medical community and health care providers.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Current certification as an immunizer or the willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
