About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support daily operations and patient care. This role focuses on learning pharmacy systems, adhering to regulations, and providing service to customers. You will gain experience in a retail pharmacy setting while completing your education.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily tasks in line with state and federal regulations.
- Process prescriptions by entering data, handling third-party billing, filling, and dispensing medications.
- Use pharmacy systems to look up patient and drug information.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and help resolve issues.
- Support pharmacists with patient counseling and medication therapy management.
- Handle cash register transactions and sales.
- Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Manage telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's direct attention.
- Complete all required training to stay current on pharmacy practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
